My poor boys!

This morning after I showered and was getting ready, Jason started getting ready. He told me he thought he kept getting the chills and getting the body aches. So I told him to go back to bed and stay home today. I finished getting ready and then went to get Corbin up at 6:00. He woke up like normal... kinda cranky and wanted his Mommy to hold him and that's pretty typical in the mornings. When I was making breakfast, Corbin got sick all over me! I yelled up to Jason that I needed his help! Corbin got sick a few more times... everytime we tried to give him fluids or anything he got sick everytime! To make matters worse when I changed his overnight diaper it was barely wet. So I started to get worried he was going to be dehydrated.

We made a doctors appointment. Poor Jason, I made him go with me so I could sit in the back of the car with Corbin incase he threw up in the car! Jason was an awesome help all day! Its hard when all your toddler wants you to do is hold him and be 30 weeks pregnant! The doctor said Corbin just had some tummy bug or something and gave us a prescription for some expensive medicine for vomiting. He also told us that Corbin wasn't showing any signs of dehydration and to make sure to give him little bits of fluid/jello at a time and make sure he didn't drink too fast because it may upset his tummy.

Corbin took a two hour nap when we got home and he ran a little fever. Luckily he had the one fever and by four o'clock Corbin could keep some food down. I am staying home with him tomorrow just so he is 100% well and let me tell you I LOVE snuggling with our little guy!

100th post- Color and baby update

Monday afternoon, Corbin's school called (6 times on my cell phone I might add... I was in a meeting and didn't bring it! They finally clued in and called Jason! I am now going to bring my cell phone whenever I go to meetings and such!) and said he was running a fever. So Jason stayed home with him for two days and then my mom watched him yesterday. We took him to the doctors and they said he just had a little virus or something. Luckily he just ran a fever and that was all. Monday night he was very lethargic and feverish. But during that time he didn't stop for his passion... he pointed to the t.v., which wasn't on, and said "football!" this kid must have a magnetic field or something for ANYTHING football related! I guess he knew it was Monday night football!

Well Tuesday morning, fever and all, Corbin wanted to color instead of eat breakfast. I told Jason we have a "starving artist" on our hands! I know I've done a post on Corbin and his love for art. Well he really takes after his father. While Jason was watching Corbin, he went to the pantry and said "col." Jason thought he just wanted a snack, but he really was asking for "colors!"

In Grayson news, at my doctor's appointment yesterday everything was great! My blood pressure looked great and I am measuring right on target. My biggest question was going to be about a repeat c-section or a VBAC. Dr. Kuhlmann brought it up without me asking. He said that we probably need to start looking at dates for a c-section the week of December 7th. So it looks like Grayson will be here either the 7th, 8th, or 9th. He did say that if I go into labor early, he won't stop it and will just let me have a VBAC or my blood pressure starts looking bad then we may induce me. I cannot believe there are less than ten weeks and we get to meet our little boy! :)

This is what happens while Mommy is at work and Daddy is on the computer working from home and lets me walk around with crayons! I made my mark on the wall!

NOTE: It is 9:00 am and our son is STILL asleep!!! I had to go check on him to make sure he was ok! He is still sleeping away! We were at my parents house and watched the KU and UT games so he only had a 40 minute nap on the way from Carter's to my parents house. He of course had to watch his beloved "FOOTBALL!" He screams "football" almost every five minutes when watching it! SO cute! He was also throwing the ball around to my Dad and Jason while watching! We had to buy Grayson a football outfit and Corbin a few football shirts! :) Whenever we see a football out or anything he screams "FOOTBALL, Touchdown!"

Corbin also learned how to say "Izzy" (my parents Yorkie) and "Coco" (my parents maltese). Its so cute!

Well our family has decided to not completely part with cable but we got rid of the cable box in our bedroom because we NEVER use it! We always watch tv downstairs as a family and we only ever really watch movies in our bedroom. We did decide to just get rid of our home LAN line. So if you need to get ahold of us, our cell phones are the only way to go. Jason and I will be sending out emails with our cell phone numbers to tell all our friends and family about the switch.

Lately Corbin has REALLY been imitating Jason and I alot! On Friday morning he started telling Kylie, to "sit down" along with the sign for "sit" we learned at puppy training. Its so funny because Kylie listens to him and will sit when he tells her. Corbin is working on the lay down sign and will tell her to 'lay down'. Jason has been counting to five on his fingers with Corbin. So what does our son do? He practices counting to five on his fingers!! We are so proud of our little guy! :) He is such a joy everyday! I love how curious he is all the time!

P.S. It is now 9:30 and Corbin is STILL asleep!

P.P.S I have found someone to do my maternity leave!!! Now I don't have to stress about it anymore! Yay!

trip to labor and delivery

On Sunday evening we had to go to labor and delivery. All day I had been having pressure/pain which felt like it was on my cervix, that got progressively worse. So I called my doctors office and the doctor on call said we should go to labor and delivery.

My sister, Merritt, met us at St. David's so she could take Corbin back to our house.

Oddly enough Jason and I were directed to the room we had stayed in the night I had my c-section with Corbin. They have since redone the whole maternity ward and it looks a lot nicer! Anyways, I was directed to put on a gown and then lay down.

By this time my sister had shown up and Jason went to help put Corbin's car seat in her car. They asked me a bunch of questions, took my vitals and blood pressure. After the nurse had taken my blood pressure, I got a bit nervous, because her exact words were "Your blood pressure is ugly!" Which lead me to believe oh dear am I going to have Pre-eclampsia AGAIN!? She tested my urine and there wasn't any protein which was a good sign. They performed a few tests that the doctor had ordered to see what was going on. The first one was a predictor to see if I would go into labor in the next two weeks. I will not go into the details but...THAT HURT SOO BAD! Jason can tell you how hard I squeezed his hand! They also checked my cervix to see if I was dilated at all. The good news is I wasn't dilated at all! Once I had laid down for a while the pain started to subside. I had been laying down at home too so I don't know why it finally went away.

So four hours later and resting in the hospital bed and everything checked out fine and I was able to be discharged. I wasn't going to go into labor in the next two weeks and I have no answers to why I felt so crappy. Although my hunches are that either Grayson was sitting on my cervix and putting a ton of pressure on it... or it was awful gas pains!

Lets just hope the next trip I make to labor and delivery is to have our sweet boy in 10 weeks!

Car trouble and being a grown up!

Note: Jason would be super proud of me as this is a post about the unexpected finances that go along with owning cars. He is the first one to tell you that I DESPISE talking about finances and am a self-proclaimed shopaholic!

On Tuesday when we are getting ready to leave for work and I turned on our CRV it made an odd noise and felt was driving odd. I made Jason follow Corbin and I the five minutes to daycare/work to make sure we got there safely. Jason then drove the car around Corbin's daycare parking lot a few times to see if he could figure out what was wrong. When he came back around he said the noise stopped when he turned the air conditioning off. He then went to work and made an appointment with the Honda dealership for Friday. That meant that Corbin and I had to go to and from work everyday with the windows down. BTW he LOVED this!

Well come to find out yesturday afternoon the whole air conditioning unit died! Basically I think the compressor exploded and sent shards of stuff into belts, etc (yah I have no idea about cars! I am a girly girl!) Our car is a 2004 and has 85,000 miles on it. Jason has been trying to convince me that we just need to pay the RIDICULOUS amount to get it fixed (its half of what the car is even worth) and keep driving it until it dies eventually. We are doing well finanacially but when you have our bedroom furniture to finish paying off, Corbin's bedroom furniture, daycare cost (which will double once Grayson gets here! EEK not looking forward to that!) and all the things that come with everyday life and owning a home etc. it really big strain.

We called all our parents, my sister and her husband, who is works as a regional manager at Progressive, to get their opinions on what we should do. Should we just pay the amount to get it fixed or bite the bullet and get a new car? Several people said to get a second opinion on the car but most said it wasn't really worth putting all that money into a car that has 85,000 miles on it already.

I am of the mindset that I want a reliable car that is going to take get me and my children places safely and with AIR CONDITIONING in this freakin' Texas heat! All I can say is thank goodness this week our weather has decided to cool off a bit and not be in the 100s! Corbin is a total sweat ball and the CRV has no vents in the back so I was already starting to feel bad for the little guy all the time this summer when it was over 100 all the time.

Today we went to the Toyota dealership to test drive cars. I have a Toyota Corolla, (which Jason now drives to work everyday) that I got just before Jason and I got married because my 9 year old jeep decided it had had enough and the transmission died. After talking with my dad this morning he said he had a guy over there who he really liked who would be a reliable person to talk to. (My dad has bought a few Toyota's from him.) So we went over and test drove a Highlander hybrid. We wouldn't get a hybrid simply because its out of our price range, we just drove the only one they had available. Jason and I both loved driving/riding in it, and i think Corbin liked it too! The guy was even nice enough to let us strap in Corbin's car seat so Jason and I could test drive it together!

They are going to get in a car with the specifications we want with no obligation to buy it so we can see if we like it and I guess we will decide what to do then.

As of right now our plan is to possibly just wait a few months and try to save up a decent down payment so the monthly payments are lower and keep driving the CRV b/c it is drivable and hope that it stays cool and doesn't shoot back up to the 100s again anytime soon. We are even considering getting rid of our LAN line phone/cable- (bye bye Time warner!?! we aren't too happy with it anyways and wanted to get AT&T u-verse but it has yet to come out here in Austin.) I have grown to love cable tv but it is a sacrifice we would have to make at this point to save money. I would certainly miss my Food Network and TLC shows. Corbin would miss the Disney channel and Jason-the discovery channel. But we have netflix and can stream a lot of shows through our X-box and there is always hulu.com. Since school has started I really haven't been able to watch a ton of tv anyways and would much rather spend time with my family. I know too that I would have to finally maybe GROW UP, and be an adult and stop being such a shopaholic! It would be better for everyone involved! Jason would stop being stressed about the credit card and it would make us a lot happier!

On Saturday morning after SLEEPING IN until 7:00 am (hey 7:00 am on a Saturday is considered sleeping in our family because Corbin usually wakes up EARLY!) Corbin was snuggled in bed with us and I said "love you!" Corbin said "love you", it was so cute! :)

Our little boy is such a joy in our lives! He gave his mommy and daddy a scare the other night thogh. Hee started crying this odd cry at like 6:30 on Monday night and he was tensing his body up in pain! It scared Jason and I! I tried taking a bath with him to see if the warm water would make him feel better and that didn't help he just cried the entire time! He finally cried himself to sleep about an hour later. Jason and I ended up sleeping with him in his bed because we wanted to make sure he was ok. He then woke up at midnight with the same thing and I called the doctor who said that he was probably having bad gas. So I found some mylicon drops and gave him some tylenol and he fell asleep like 30 minutes later! Last night he woke up doing the same thing for a while but he finally went back to sleep. We were wondering if some of the snacks at daycare were upsetting his tummy. We had decided a few weeks ago that we would only give him snacks from home at daycare, because he was having diarrhea, well for some reason the daycare this week had been giving him their snacks. So we are wondering if Corbin just doesn't tolerate their ODD snacks! They have kolaches, ramen noodles, and raisins (which I am not happy about!), and other odd snacks! Oh well hopefully eating things from home will make him feel better!

Last swim of the summer

I haven't updated the blog in a while! I have been extremely busy getting back into the routine of work. My first two weeks have gone well. I have a great class this year so far (no aggressive kiddos this year, i hope it stays that way). I am getting my sixth student on Tuesday, another three year old, who will only stay three hours.

I am starting to freak out a little bit. Monday I will be 26 weeks and will only have 13 weeks (I am not counting my 40th week because of my previous c-section and not being able to go past 39 weeks) before Grayson arrives, if he isn't early! I have NO idea who is going to be my long term substitute while I am gone. The wonderful girl that subbed for me when I had Corbin got a job at a daycare. Its hard because a lot of people don't want to sub in PPCD. It can be kind of a challenge. I am hoping and praying it will just fall into place.
