Last weekend Jason decided to clean out our third bedroom and make it a playroom for Corbin. Corbin LOVES his new playroom. My parents let us borrow a train/lego table from when my 18 year old brother was little and Corbin loves it! We love it because it saved us about $200 dollars in buying one for ourselves. We went to Ikea last Sunday and bought Corbin a super cute car rug for $15 dollars, much better than the $80 one that Target had that we had our eye on! We also bought Corbin a igloo tent that he loves! :)

I am so happy Corbin loves playing in his new playroom! I like going in there in the evenings with him and not have a TV on and we can just concentrate on playing with our sweet boy!

- I think we have a future sports start in our house! This week Corbin watched preseason football with Daddy! Oh boy am I going to have to get used to watching football with all these boys in our house!! Football isn't exactly my favorite. :( He loved watching it with Daddy! Corbin already knows how to throw the ball pretty well and even says "Touchdown!" The other night in the bathtub, Corbin started shooting baskets, we have a little basketball goal, and he started doing layups and getting a few baskets. I quickly told Jason to go grab the video camera. Of course once we turned on the camera he said "cheese" and then didn't want to shoot anymore baskets.

back to school/work

Well it was our first week back at work and school for Corbin and I. Corbin has done really well in his new class. However it has been a trying week for the both of us. I have had to stay at work until almost six everyday to get things completed for school to start on Monday. I would have stayed longer but Corbin's school closes at 6. When we get home Corbin is VERY cranky! Which makes me so sad because I have been looking forward to spending time with my sweet baby! I know it will take some time for us to get back in a routine and adjusted back to school. I am really hoping I don't have to stay at work until six every day because I am really missing spending time with my son for more than 2 hours because he goes to bed at like 8.

The good news is that he enjoys his new class a lot! His teachers were even willing to try out his gdiapers and they done well with them so far!

I am really looking forward to this year! Lots of changes all around at my school. We have a new principal and assistant principal. Also the other English PPCD teacher, Sarah, and I both have new teaching assistants! Let me tell you I could have not put my room together without Jane! She is amazing! Sarah and I both have said a million times this week it is SOOO nice to have an assistant who ACTUALLY helps you! It is SO different from my last two years teaching!

I am going to have five students in my class. I actually get to have some three and four year olds this year! Last year I just had 6 five year olds! Our schedule is going to consist of a lot of running around to different classes for inclusion but it will make the day fly by! Last night was meet the teacher night and three of my students and parents came! So it was a great turn out compared to my first year teaching two years ago when I had NO ONE show up for meet the teacher or back to school night!

18 month well check

Well Corbin's 18 month doctor visit didn't go as well as I hoped. He is 21 lbs 6 oz and in the 3-5 percentile for weight and 30 and 3/4 inches tall which is in the 5-10 percentile for height. I seriously couldn't believe 3-5 percentile! Jason and I just laughed! He is our little shrimp! ;) Dr. Owens asked Jason and I how tall we were and I mentioned that I had to be on growth hormone partially due to the fact that my twin and I were born three months premature. My pituitary gland had a growth hormone deficiency. Our doctor suggested that we go see an Endocrinologist to see if Corbin may need to be on growth hormone or just see if its something he will grow out of. That way at least we will have our bases covered and not wonder "what if?"

They also did an Autism questioner that they do at 18 months and then again at 2 years. Corbin passed with flying colors!

Our poor little guy had to get two vaccinations and he was not a happy boy! Finally when we were about to leave Corbin started feeling better!

The good news is that Corbin now doesn't have to go back for a well check until he is 2! I am sure we will have to go back because of illnesses etc.

Discoveries

Yesterday during nap time Corbin discovered how to get out of his toddler bed! I was in the bathroom and Jason brought Corbin in. I asked if he had been too upset to go to bed to which Jason replied "he was behind the door crying!" Oh dear! Hey I think a week and a half in his toddler bed without getting out is pretty impressive! I was so worried about him going to bed last night thinking he was going to get out and Jason and I would have to go in there a million times and put him back to bed. However, while I was reading him books he was SOO tired and he barely cried when left and fell right to sleep! Jason and I were able to have some popcorn and snuggle on the couch watching a movie! (Popcorn is certainly a luxury around here because I will not let Corbin have popcorn for a long time. So we have to eat it after he goes to bed.)

The good news is that Corbin likes his new room! :) He brought his ball in there and we played "soccer' in his room and he loves just going in there and playing! I was singing the "wheels on the bus" in his room and Corbin LOVES it! They did the song during his swimming lessons and he loves the wiper part and he says "swish, swish, swish!" He was imitating all my actions! We hope when we get his room all put together we are going to make our "study" into a playroom for the kids. We will just have to do some major cleaning for that to happen, complete with a ton of trips to Goodwill.

Today we have Corbin's 18 month doctors appointment! I can't wait to see how much our sweet boy has grown!:) Good thing Daddy is coming because I think Corbin gets some shots today!

Since I use the blog as a memory book for Corbin I had to add the cute thing Corbin does lately. If I am talking to Corbin and asking him if he wants a snack or to go take a shower or something he will say "Ummm" like he has to think about it before making a decision! I love it! Its hilarious!

Gestational Diabetes test

Good news! The nurse from Dr. Kuhlmann's office called and said I did great on my glucose test! No Gestational diatestes! I had been SO worried I had a dream the other night I hadn't past the test, guess I was wrong! Dr. Kulhmann said everything looked great and to come back in four weeks!

My sister texted today and said that my mom was coming home from Costa Rica early (my parents and brothers went last Sunday and were coming back the 19th) because she was hurt. So I was freaking out and quickly tried to call her but she didn't answer. So I called my sister Carrie hoping she had talked to Merritt. Carrie said that my dad had been driving an ATV and my Mom had hurt her leg. I just talked to Merritt a few minutes ago and she had talked to my mom and I guess my Dad was driving like a manic and my mom had flown off. Thank God my mom is ok. I hate ATV's, my sister-in-law, who is in high school, had a friend who had an accident had died when riding one.

On a more postive note yesturday morning after getting my work keys, we went by Corbin's daycare. I wanted to take him to his new class to meet his teachers and to feel more comfortable with him transitioning to his new class. While we were there Corbin played the entire time! While we were talking to his teachers, Laura and Liz, we were also watching Corbin with the other kids. A boy, who looked like he was 2, (ALL the kids are A LOT bigger than Corbin) pushed/shoved Corbin. Corbin immediatly said "NO" and shook his head! We were so proud that he knew that pushing was wrong! Now lets just hope he doesn't pick up any bad habits!

Our sweet 18 month old!

Today our sweet boy is 18 months old! I can't believe he is a year and a half already! Jason and I like to tease that it feels like he has been here for years! We love our little guy! We couldn't imagine life without you, Corby!

Yesterday Jason and I really wanted to take Corbin somewhere fun because its our last week of summer and Jason is off work this week. We decided to go to Build a Bear workshop and let Corbin pick out a animal to love.

We had already predicted that Corbin would want a "dog" which of course is what he got. Jason and I REALLY wanted to get him BEVO! It was really cute! But it was a no go! Oh well maybe next time.

After we went to build a bear we went to Magnolia cafe! YUMMMM!!! Corbin and I shared the buttermilk pancakes with bananas! SOO GOOD! I am counting the days where I can have sweets! I have my gestational diabetes test tomorrow and I have a SINKING feeling that I am NOT going to pass. I have been worried that I am going to have to go in for the three hour test (I had to do the three hour test with Corbin and did pass) which I have NO idea when I would be able to go since I have to go back to to work next week. Hopefully I am wrong and I have just been worried for nothing and I will pass.

P.S. I think Corbin is starting to get used to the idea of there being a baby in my tummy... he starting rubbing my tummy the other day! Lets see what happens once Grayson gets here! Haha our little guy is SOO active! I swear he is doing summersaults in there!

Best Moments of the day!

Ever since Corbin has started sleeping in his toddler bed, getting ready for bed is something I am truly cherishing! (Not that I didn't before!) I climb into his little bed with him (can't wait to get his big boy furniture in less than a month!) and we read stories! He points to things in the story and says "Whats that?" SO CUTE! :)

This evening Corbin was SOO adorable, I had tears in my eyes! Corbin only took one nap today this morning and so he was exhausted. I laid down with him after we read books and he was falling asleep so I started to get up. He woke up a bit and said "ss sss" and pointed to the place next to him where I had been laying. He wanted me to stay with him! So of course I couldn't resist and had to stay and cuddle my baby some more. This past week I have been hormonal, having issues with going back to work b/c I will miss being home with my baby, and worrying about Corbin be in his new toddler class starting next week. So I have really been soaking up my night time rituals with Corbin!

In other news... Jason started and finished painting Corbin's big boy room bright green today! It only took him a little more than 3 1/2 hours! He did a great job! Thank you Jason! Corbin and I love his new room! :)

ENT appointment and first allergic reaction?

Yesterday Corbin had a follow up with Dr. Scholl, his ENT, who did his ear tube surgery. We have to go see him every three months. Corbin did NOT like having the doctor check in his ears with the ear instrument. (I don't know the doctor name for it.) The next scheduled appointment we have is for when I am 38 weeks pregnant. That is if Grayson doesn't come early. Grayson is due to arrive at 39 weeks because my doctor won't let me go past 39 weeks because of my previous c-section.

Luckily, Jason was able to come because Corbin ended up having a hearing test. During the hearing test there are distractors like ducks with lights that go along with the noises and you have to have your child focus back on you and not the distractors. (Kind of hard to describe the hearing test...guess you would have had to just been there! You REALLY need two people to do this with a toddler!) Anyways, Corbin did great! His ears look great and his hearing checked out fine!

This morning met Jason for lunch since its the last time this summer we could meet him while at work. He is taking the week off next week. We decided to go to Joe's crab shack. Corbin was so excited when I told him we were going to see Dadda! He went to the garage door and said "Dadda" then was pulling on me because we weren't leaving the house fast enough! It was cute! Corbin fell asleep on the way to meet Daddy. Well we ordered Corbin clam chowder because he has eaten some of Jason's clam chowder before. We also got him his favorite: corn on the cob. He wasn't really interested in the clam chowder this time around. He did however LOVE the tartar sauce that Jason got along with his shrimp. He was happily eating his french fries doused in the tartar sauce. Well when we were getting up to leave I noticed ALL around Corbin's mouth it was red! I was a little freaked out. I even asked Jason if we should stop and get him some Benadryl. But we just decided to watch his mouth and see if there were any other symptoms that popped up. By the time we left Jason's office and came home the redness was gone! Thank goodness!

It looks like Corbin will no longer be having tartar sauce. :( We THINK this is what caused him to break out. It was ALL over his mouth. He had a piece of shrimp but spit it out. So I don't think that was it. Its too bad because Corbin LOVED Joe's crab shack. I guess if we go back we will have to make sure he doesn't have the tartar sauce again. HE loved the disco ball and lights. The servers even danced and were clapping to loud music and Corbin was clapping along with them. When they were done dancing and the lights went off. Corbin kept looking up at the lights and wanted them to come on again! :)

Toddler bed

We are so proud of our Corbin! He has been sleeping in his crib turned toddler bed since Sunday night. I mentioned in the previous post that we ordered Corbin's big boy bed. So on Sunday Jason and I decided to just "try" converting his bed into a toddler bed. I was sure he would try to get out and we would have a HUGE mess in his room complete with clothes and blankets out of drawers. Boy was I pleasantly surprised!

At first he wasn't too thrilled with the bed. But after I crawled in and read books to him and gave him a kiss he cried for about 5 minutes and was out. I have to admit I had to go check on him every time I got up to go to the bathroom. I have had to do that every night. I can't go back to sleep without checking on him. Yesterday he woke up in the middle of the night and I actually crawled in bed with him and slept with him. Jason came in and gave us kisses when he left for work. I think he was shocked to see me in there with Corbin.

I was honestly shocked that Corbin is doing so well sleeping in his new bed. I was a little worried about nap time thinking he would try to get out of bed. However he surprised me again and has slept really well. Last night he slept ALL night and did not wake up once! Yay Corbin!

Lets just see how long this lasts!

Just Like Daddy

This morning after breakfast Corbin started to go upstairs to take a "sha" (his word for shower.) Our child is definitely like me... has a HUGE OCD cleanliness gene! I was never one of those kids in middle school who my parents had to remind me to shower... I ALWAYS took a shower... sometimes 2 a day!

Anyways, I quickly realized the reason he wanted to take a shower so badly this morning. Corbin saw Jason drawing on his computer and he wanted to be like Daddy and draw too. Corbin wanted to use his tub crayons in the shower. After we brought a not-so-happy Corbin downstairs I was searching for his crayola first markers. I have NO idea where we put them. So I found this chalkboard mat that my mom got Corbin for Christmas. This chalkboard mat is great! It is a place mat with sock monkeys on one side and a chalkboard mat on the other side. It rolls up really small and cleans off with just a baby wipe. He had a great time drawing with the mat! He even thought our black kitchen chairs needed some sprucing up and started putting chalk on them too!

Side note: Corbin has started to shake his head "no" in the past few weeks. This is bittersweet because now we know if he REALLY doesn't want something but it is a pain too because it is hard to figure out what he does want sometimes.

Last week I ordered Corbin's big boy bedding. It should be arriving this week! (don't know why this is underlined!) We are going to paint his room green like the bedspread. Jason is taking off next week and is going to paint Corbin's room. Last night we ordered Corbin's big boy bed and dresser. It won't be here for about four weeks. But after next week we will be on our way to getting Corbin's big boy room all taken care of.
