"This breathing treatment is getting a little easier."

Corbin has RSV or Respiratory syncytial virus. RSV usually causes mild cold-like symptoms in adults and children. (I had heard of RSV from the quad and quintuplet blogs that I am addicted to reading... those families are amazing to raise that many children all at once.) He had a cough with some wheezing over the weekend and a 102.4 fever on Sunday night. Jason and I took him to the doctor yesterday and his RSV test came back positive. The doctor also said he had bronchilitis. The doctor had Corbin do an breathing treatment of abuteral that people with asthma usually do. So we had to sit in the exam room with a screaming/crying child who kept moving his face away from the mask for 10 minutes. (thank goodness Jason was off this week and next because there is no way I could have done that breathing treatment with Corbin by myself.) He hated the mask... which I don't blame him, the mask had two holes on it and the vapor medicine came out onto his face, scary for a baby.

Corbin is getting used to the breathing treatments. He has to do them every four hours. The bad thing about abuteral is that it makes you really hyper. We gave him a treatment at 7:00pm last night then he fell asleep like 30 minutes later. I thought he was out for the night. He woke up about an hour later and when we went to bed at like 9:30 he was wide awake. So we had to come back and play toys for a while because he was so wired.

Oh yes and Corbin also has his third ear infection this month. The doctor said if it didn't clear up soon we might have to go see an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor for the possibility of getting ear tubes. He has been on three antibiotics and Jason and I really hoping this finally clears it up not to mention his awful diaper rash as a side effect of the medicine.

We are going to the doctor on Friday just so Jason and I have peace of mind on our cruise and we aren't worrying about Corbin's health the entire time. If he isn't well, we may have to forgo the cruise, but I am sure by Sunday, when we leave, he should be all better!

We just want our sweet baby to get better! I hate seeing our baby in pain/not feeling well.

First Visit to See Santa

On Thursday my Mom and sister watched Corbin while I went to work. Corbin and I had been sick on Tuesday and Wednesday and I didn't think Corbin was well enough to go to daycare.

While watching Corbin, my family went to the mall to get lunch. My mom and Merritt got the idea to take Corbin to see Santa Claus. Jason and I were going to try to take him last Sunday but took one look at the line snaking around past JCPenny and knew we would have to wait for probably more than an hour.

I guess Corbin got yogurt on his outfit at lunch so my Mom bought him an outfit at Janie and Jack! He looks so cute even though he wasn't happy to see Santa. He cried when my mom put him on Santa's lap. Hopefully next year he won't cry!

After Corbin's shower today (he loves showers, we started taking one with him a few weeks ago because there are no bathtubs on the cruise ship.) he crawled over to our stereo in our bedroom and turned it on. He then started dancing and I quickly grabbed the camera. The video quality is awful because I used our camera that takes pictures and the picture is super grainy because the lighting wasn't great in our bedroom. I just love how he is dancing and shaking his little booty. Our little guy has really loved dancing to music lately... it is too precious! When I was rocking him for a nap today in his bedroom, this song came on the Build your Babies Brain classical cd. The song wasn't very slow but I always play music while rocking him. He apparently wasn't tired because he started dancing. I just started cracking up and we went to play toys instead. He amazes us with something new each day! Jason and I truly love being parents to our sweet little guy!

Again, sorry the video quality stinks and I also for some reason turned the camera and it is all sideways and I cannot fix that! :( At least we got the cuteness on video no matter how bad it looks.

A few of my favorite things!

Pictures from breakfast this morning!

Since our blog is quickly becoming our digital baby book... (I never honestly started the one we were given... because when Corbin first came home I was just trying to survive with a newborn.) I wanted to remember a few of my favorite things that our sweet little boy does.

1) When Corbin wakes up, (he still sleeps with us... its how I can manage with working, and still being able to function the next day) he makes sure to be super loud and crawls over to Daddy to make sure he wakes him up too. I don't know how much Daddy likes it but it is pretty cute! He loves to go over and cuddle into Daddy and bang on him to make sure he is really awake.

2) As you can tell from the picture below, Corbin loves to push just about anything that moves around the house to get around! He loves taking our hands and laughs the entire time while "walking" around. He ended up pushing that chair all around the kitchen!


3) Corbin can say Momma and knows the meaning of the word. If I leave the room he cries and says "Momma." We are currently working on "DaDa." He sure says 'dada dada' all the time but he just rattles it off all the time.

4) Corbin learned how to play peek-a-boo by himself the other night at a resturant. It was soo cute! I was totally wishing we had the video camera at that moment.

5) Corbin also learned how to give kisses, with his mouth open! He likes to give to Daddy when he wakes up.

6) When Jason and I are having a conversation, Corbin has really been trying to talk with us. He leans in and will say some jibberish. It is so cute!

7) Corbin has been waving a lot to people like my brother, Brenton, and to Jason and I. If you say hi to him he will start waving!

Ziaja Family Christmas Card 2008

This would be our Christmas card, had we been on the ball and actually ordered them early. However lately, Jason and I both have been super busy and stressed at work and the cards quickly became an "Oh, I will order those later." By the time I could order them, I looked on the calender and it was already too late to order the cards in time for Christmas. Oh well, at least we got a super cute picture of our family all dressed up.

I will leave you with a cute picture... Corbin was starting to have enough of the sitting pretty and wanted to get down and crawl!

Babywearing Momma

Yesterday, my new Beco Butterfly baby carrier arrived in the mail. I wanted a new baby carrier because Corbin is about to grow out of his Bjorn (the weight limit is 20 lbs and he is 18 lbs 3 oz.). The Beco Butterfly is capable of holding a newborn up to toddler up to 45 lbs! I also needed a new carrier for when we go on our Caribbean cruise over Christmas break. I thought that the stroller wouldn't be too practical on a cruise ship. I've been on a cruise a few times and a stroller doesn't go well on a ship.

As you can see I was able to vaccum while holding him. this baby carrier is a lot easier to hold Corbin and my back does not hurt. I was able to hold him for more than an hour and my back still did not hurt.

The baby carrier will certianly come in handy after work when Corbin is super clingy and needs his Momma. I basically cannot get any housework done after work because he needs me to hold him the entire time. Hey, I can relate, I practically run after work, giddy to go pick him up because I have missed him so much!

Mommy got to have a day of pamepering today... I got to get my haircut and eyebrows waxed! Woo hoo! I have not been able to have my eyebrows waxed for a while now! :) Thank you Jason for watching our sweet little baby, who by the way is battling pink eye, an ear infection, cold complete with fever. He is feeling much better with the medications he is on!

My first Christmas Present

Over Thanksgiving break while my sister and her family was here, we exchanged Christmas presents. Corbin got to open his first Christmas present! He loved the paper! I think all his presents are going to have to be in bags this year! My sister made Corbin a no sew fleece blanket! It is super cute with embroidered blue beetle looking bugs on it.

"Oh there is something inside?"

"Ok, so I am just gonna go back to playing with the fun bag ok? Mommy, you hold the blanket!"

"This is nice and soft Aunt Carrie! Thank you!"


My sister, Carrie, even showed me how to make the blankets! Carrie, your right, super easy! I made the blanket that Payton is holding with Carrie's help! It is red with Dalmatian puppies on it and has a blue fleece back.

Thank you so much Carrie for helping me! We love you and miss you all terribly! I have to say I have the cutest nieces around! Payton and Reese are so much fun to play with and talk to! They say and do the cutest things!

Corbin's Thanksgiving Party

Last Tuesday Corbin's daycare had a Thanksgiving feast for family and friends. Daddy, Mimi, and Aunt Carrie were able to come to the party as well! His class made little turkey hats! It was wonderful to be with Corbin and be thankful for all the joy and love he has bestowed upon our lives these past 9 (almost 10! months).

Corbin wanted to wish Daddy a Happy Birthday! I think he was more interested in Daddy's new present, his Fall Out Three video game collectors addition accessories, than holding up Daddy's sign.)

Daddy got a yummy brownie at Cantina Loredo, too bad I couldn't have any! The sparkler was fun to watch! :)

Jason's New Toy

Jason got his birthday present a little early. He bought himself a 46" LCD tv that we got today! Wow, as you can see, Rachel Ray was larger than life! (I love to destress after work with a little Food Network). It would be easier to tell if you were actually at our house, like right now Jason is watching football and the people are huge! I feel like we are at the game!

Oh man our little guy is too cute!

Corbin got a new stroller last weekend! We needed something that was a little more friendly with the open road. The Peg Perego stroller we have that we used when Corbin was a tiny baby is more for going to the mall. The Valco trimode stroller we got at USA Baby is great! It has an aluminum frame, air filled tires, and has a super smooth ride. (Haha I sound like a car salesman or something!) It is so easy to push and is basically a stroller dream! The little knob above the front wheel can be turned to lock the front wheel if you want to use it as a jogging stroller! We also can use the stroller once we have another child as well. The front bar that Corbin is holding onto can come off and you can attach an optional toddler seat so Corbin can ride along with his younger sibling.

I have been trying to find excuses to take the stroller out places because I love it so much! I wish we had gotten it a long time ago!

Lil' Stinker

Corbin's really enjoyed his first Halloween! We didn't get any pictures of him last night on Halloween trick or treating, I forgot the camera and he was super tired! I did get some pictures on Thursday at Daddy's work! National Instruments (Jason's employer), is so family oriented, its one of the reasons we love them! They invited all the families with young children to come up to work and go trick or treating! Corbin was happy to go! Although the trick or treating was outside in 80 degree weather and the little skunk costume has fleece on the inside! Poor little guy! That's Texas for you! Our little man was such a big hit! I am glad I went overboard and bought his costume (it was a little more than we wanted to spend on a Halloween costume but its only your child's first Halloween once!) It was definitely worth it because he looked so adorable!

A Camping we will go!

Over the weekend, the Kostusiak's invited us to go camping at Pedernales State Park. I actually enjoyed myself contrary to my mother and father in law both saying "Oh MacKenzie going camping? Thats an oximoron."

Introducing Morgan McKinley

My niece, Morgan McKinley Dunn, has arrived!

She was born Saturday morning October 4 at 9:19 a.m. weighing 7 lbs 15 oz and she is 19 1/2 inches long.

My sister Carrie is doing great! Jeff was so giddy when I talked to him on Saturday morning! A proud Daddy of his three girls! Payton and Reese love their little sister! I called my sister today and she said that Payton had asked Reese when she was getting close to Morgan if she had "fertilized" yet."(She meant to say sanitize! I love 5 year olds! They say the cutest things!)

The whole fam cannot wait to meet the newest addition to the Dunn family the week of Thanksgiving! We love her already, Carrie and Jeff! Give her huge kisses from her Aunt, Uncle, and cousin!

Corbin has been battling a cold complete with cough and runny nose with an added ear infection since the weekend. Yesturday my Mom watched him but when I called her she told me that he was barely eating and that he wasn't himself. He needed his Mommy! He also wanted to nurse for comfort a lot before I left for work yesturday.

So today we stayed home so he could recouperate. I think he is almost 100% back to normal except he still has his cough so hopefully he will be going to back school tomorrow. He slept a lot today and just relaxed with Mommy and Daddy too (he came at lunch because his throat was bothering him from allergies.) If Corbin is anything like his Daddy (hes a mini Jason) we will have many sick days because of sore throats etc.
