Potty time?

Corbin watching a bowl game last night with his uncles and Daddy! Our little guy is such a "guys guy!" He even ate Pluckers wings with Daddy and Uncles! Don't worry we just gave him the meat off the bone! He really wanted to eat them bone-in though like the guys!

A few weeks ago Corbin's teacher mentioned to Jason that he has been staying dry for periods of time. I have noticed this too at home when I go to change his cloth diaper it will be completely dry at times. We talk a lot about when he does go to the bathroom like when he goes number 2 and I tease him to not 'pee pee' on me when changing his diaper. About a week ago I noticed he started saying "poopt", no I didn't spell it wrong Corbin says 'poopt', when he he would poop. Now every time he poops he comes up to Jason or I and says 'poopt.' Family members have been asking if I am going to start potty training him and I have really been adamant about waiting until he is 3. However, with this new development and awareness of going to the bathroom I know I should try it earlier. Although now that I have a newborn, who seems to need to be held constantly, (What can I say my boys love their Mommy!) it doesn't really seem like a real option for us right now. I know I could try it right now but I think it would be SO much easier this summer when I have more time and once Grayson is about 6 months old.

Sadly I think the honeymoon period of have a new brother at home has worn off. Twice now when Corbin is tired and goes to kiss Grayson he uses his TEETH and last night left a mark on his brothers forehead! Jason and I promptly put him to bed. We are now working on talking about kissing without using teeth and realizing he hurt Grayson and made him cry. I think it may be something that we have to keep working on!

One Month Check up and ENT appoinment

When I was on the computer yesterday I heard Corbin giggling behind me. I turned around and saw him in Grayson's swing! Jason and I thought this was hilarious!

Yesturday was full of doctors appointments. We first had to go to Corbin's ENT appointment to check on his ear tubes. We go every three months. Dr. Scholl said that Corbin's left ear tube has fallen out and there was some fluid behind his ear drum. I am PRAYING he doesn't' get an ear infection! We have to call Dr. Scholl and/or our pediatrician if he does get one though. We have to go back in six weeks to have him checked now. We had to get his hearing checked too and WOW it was nap time and Corbin was so tired I was so glad Jason was there with me! Corbin was really upset and was trying to get down in the little sound booth and poor Jason had to just keep him on his lap while Corbin was thrashing around trying to get down.

Speaking of Jason we are REALLY going to miss him being home after this week. Since November 23, Jason has been working from home. He didn't work the two weeks after Grayson was born though. I have LOVED having Jason home. I keep telling him that it is great for our marriage to have him home just focusing on us and our boys. Sometimes I think we forget to remember why we work and provide for our families and get caught up in the day to day. I know I was. Once I get home from work I am frantically trying to make Corbin and my lunch for the next day, make dinner, laundry, etc, play with Corbin, and then its time for bed and doing it all over the next day. There just aren't enough hours in the day.

Yesterday afternoon I took Grayson to his one month check up. He was 21 3/4" in height and weights 9 lbs 15 oz. He is 5 weeks old today. He is a really good eater! He also had to get a shot. I felt so bad for the little guy! We go back the 26th of January for his two month appointment.

Grayson also took a bottle for Jason the other day which I am happy about! For reasons I don't want to discuss on the blog, my sub decided to not come back after Christmas break, so I may have to leave Grayson with my mom so I can figure out who will be with my class once school starts back up next week. I am trying to not stress about that stuff though right now. As Jason and my mom keep telling me it will all work out.

Merry Christmas and One month old (a day late)

On Christmas Eve we went to Jason's Dads house, Pop Pop, Corbin's name for Jim. We celebrated Christmas early at their house because they were heading to Colorado on Christmas Day. Corbin got a cute radio flyer little trike, and a huge blow up ball pit thingy. He also got this CUTE hat he is wearing in these pictures! If you cannot tell it is NEMO!!! I am obsessed with how cute the hat is! Jason's Dad and Kathy got it while in New York a few weeks ago.

Grayson just chilling at Pop Pop's house! Grayson turned a month old on Christmas Eve! I cannot believe he is a month already!He is still quite the grunter/ talker! He likes to grunt/ talk a LOT at 5 am! He has trouble nursing in the middle of the night. I think he is tired and has trouble latching on. Its certainly not affecting his growth though! I am a slave to the breastfeeding during the day but I love it so I don't care!

Grayson is also doing really well lifting his head. Corbin still loves his brother. Hehe I hate to write his name for Grayson! We didn't chose the best name for a toddler to say! We love Grayson's name though! Corbin calls him "Gay Gay!" Poor Grayson!

Update on diaper rash

Well this afternoon Jason saw Grayson's diaper rash and freaked out! We decided to call the doctor and I am so glad we did! I ended up having to take the boys to the doctor by myself. (My first trip/afternoon alone with both boys! Jason had to go to a meeting at work.) Corbin was so good I was shocked! He listened to me the whole time! Grayson was weighted when we got there. He now weighs 8 lbs 4 oz! So excited about that! When Dr. Owens came in she looked at Grayson and said he had a yeast infection! :( She looked for signs of thrush in Grayson's mouth (yeast infection in the mouth and its usually white) but he didn't have any signs of it. She did give us a prescription for some cream for his yeast infection.

Well on the way out I realized I forgot my wallet in the diaper bag, which was in the car! I was trying to simplify the trip inside and just get the boys and some toys for Corbin and my nursing cover just in case Grayson got hungry. Anyways, I had to take both of the boys to the car and get my wallet. I told Corbin to wait for me by the car while I got my wallet. I had parked right next to the entrance and he ended up waiting for me on the stairs! I thought that was cute! All in all I thought it was a pretty good outing with both boys by myself!

Corbin's First Haircut and Glee and diapers!!

Corbin got his first haircut this morning! He looks so cute! We have tried twice before but the first time he fell asleep on the way to my haircut appointment and the second time we missed my haircut because Grayson came a bit earlier than expected. He had also fallen asleep that day when Jason was going to Kisma (our salon) to get his haircut. So I told Jason to make a hair appointment for Corbin and I early in the morning so Corbin would NOT fall asleep!

Anet, my hair stylist was amazing with Corbin! I have gone to her for about 10 years now, and we LOVE her! My dad and brothers, Jason, and his mom now go to her! Anet is the owner of Kisma hair salon and she is amazing and always booked solid!

Anet told us that she would let Corbin play with his cars, etc while she cut his hair! I thought this was a great idea! She said that she usually has to get on the floor etc to cut little kids hair. I thought when she did the first cut Corbin would quickly turn his head to see what was going on. NOPE! I was wrong he just kept playing!

Dancing with Mommy while watching Glee last week! We watched it on DVR the next day and Corbin was dancing and singing the while time! SO CUTE!

Hehe I love my little cloth diapered boy! At home we have since switched to Happy Heiny one size pocket cloth diapers and only use g-diapers with the disposable inserts for school. So now I only have to use one type diaper for both of the boys! I just adjust the size for Grayson or Corbin with the snaps at the front! Makes packing the diaper bag a LOT easier! I don't have to pack a two different types of diapers! Grayson is wearing his first cloth diaper today because he has HORRIBLE diaper rash and no amount of diaper rash cream is working! His poor bottom is SO RED and blistered! We considered leaving his diaper off for a while but WOW that wouldn't be fun to clean up!

Today would have been Grayson's birth day!

Today I was supposed to have a scheduled c-section for Grayson, but instead we have a two week old! Its weird to think we would have met our sweet baby today! We certainly love having him around! He really is a wonderfully amazing baby! We love our Sir Grunts a LOT (Grayson grunts and usually passes gas and makes cute noises all the time!)

This morning Grayson had his first bath! His umbilical cord fell off on Sunday. He LOVED it! He didn't even cry once! A big difference from Corbin's first bath!

Corbin has been really funny lately. We got a wonderful Edible Arrangement from Jason's co-workers the other day and Corbin LOVED the strawberries! I have tried feeding him strawberries for a long time. I guess it was an acquired taste.

If Corbin falls down or something and we ask him if he's ok he says "all right!"

Daddy is so proud of this: His boy LOVES WORLD OF WARCRAFT! Yes, its true! Corbin loves climbing into Daddy's lap while he is playing WOW and tries to help Daddy go to quests! LOL!

Grow baby Grow!

We tried Grayson in the swing the other day and he loves it! Corbin hated the swing at first and would cry when we put him in it!

On Friday we went to the pediatrician to see if Grayson had gained weight. He ended up gaining three ounces and as of Friday he was 6 lbs 13 oz! So happy our little guy finally decided to put on some weight!

Speaking of weight I swear while Jason and I were in the hospital Corbin got HUGE! I am really just thinking its because we have a newborn to compare him to now. My new nickname for him is GIGANTOR! Although my family noticed that he looked like he gained a few pounds. He stood on our scale the other day and he really only gained a pound but now he doesn't seem like a little guy anymore! I can't believe he is almost 22 months! (I have been a bad mommy and haven't taken any pictures of Corbin lately or of Grayson for that matter! I have really just been focusing on loving on my boys!)

Update 12/8/2009- I went to my two week postpartum visit with Dr. Kuhlmann so he could check my incision. He said it looked great and I can start driving again by this weekend. Thank goodness Jason has been here to drive me around these past two weeks! Also my blood pressure was great! 110/80! Perfect! The medicine is helping. I have to go back in two weeks just to get my blood pressure checked and then I go back at the first of the year for my six week postpartum checkup. I am also excited because I have lost 18 lbs. I can only walk for the next four weeks but you better believe that I am going to put the present that Jason is getting me (MY FITNESS COACH game, he used my amazon prime account to buy it and it sent me an email and he told me about it anyways) to good use once I can do it!

O Christmas Tree!

Hi guys!

On Tuesday we decided to put up our Christmas tree! We had planned on putting it up last weekend because I wanted to do it well before Grayson arrived but well we all know he had other plans! Corbin loved getting out our breakable ornaments and handing them to us. Luckily he didn't break any of them! We put the nonbreakable ones at the bottom but the problem is he keeps taking them all off the tree! He also likes to decorate the tree with all his cars and sticks them in the branches! All well I think its cute and he is just experiencing Christmas in full toddler fashion!

Corbin is adjusting well to having Grayson around. The first night we were home Corbin started pointing to all of Grayson's body parts he knew and was naming them all. He also had to give
"baby" high-fives! Overall I am really happy with how well Corbin has adjusted to having his brother around. I was really nervous about it!

Corbin has also been talking a ton! The other night he said a five word sentence! He said "Where are you blue conga (which is his word for color)? He is also obsessed with CARS! The other day I swear he played cars almost ALL day!

As far as my blood pressure is concerned, I had a racing heart rate several days in a row. After looking at the side effects one more time it said "It you have this HIGHLY UNLIKELY, but VERY SERIOUS side effect please call your doctor immediately! Yep! I had to have the super serious side effect. I called my doctor immediately and he got back with me yesterday and said to only take 10 mg instead of 20 and see how that works out or they will have to change me to another medication. So far the 10 mg have been ok. I am just hoping this gets resolved and my blood pressure is back to normal soon enough!

Jason and I are loving life with our two boys and slowly adjusting to life as a family of four. Although we have had Corbin go to daycare because we don't want to throw off his routine too much and he loves playing with is friends. Today we are staying home because of the icky cold weather! I wanted a day to spend snuggled up with Corbin! I have been missing him a TON when he has been in daycare but it has helped to not be chasing after a toddler while I am still healing. Grayson is a typical newborn and sleeps, eats and poops a ton! He is a wonderful baby! He only really cries when he is hungry! Today we go for his weight check and I am really hoping he has gained some weight. Yesterday he slept a lot so I am a little nervous! I really want to exclusively breast feed him until he is 6 months old. We started Corbin on solids at 4 months because the doctor claimed it would help him stay full and sleep through the night and it didn't! So I am waiting until Grayson is 6 months. It didn't even help Corbin gain weight!

Jason has been such an amazing help to me while I am recovering from my c-section and forcing me to lay down when my blood pressure spikes up (even when I DON'T want to). I don't know what I would do without him.

At the pediatrician this morning! Our little guy was wide awake... rare occasion right now!

Today, Grayson is one week old! We have had an interesting week so far! On Sunday Grayson came down with pink eye! Corbin had it a few weeks ago and the pediatrician said that it probably hadn't cleared up and Corbin gave it to Grayson. Poor little guy!

We went to the pediatrician today and Grayson weights 6 lbs 1o oz. He weighted 6 lbs 9 oz when we left the hospital. Dr. Owens wants us to come back Friday and see if he has gained some weight by then. He is supposed to be gaining an ounce a day.

I've been having some blood pressure problems. Yesterday I woke up with a headache and so I took my blood pressure it was 166/104. I called my doctor and they called me in a prescription for blood pressure medication. I am going to see Dr. Kuhlmann next week so hopefully my blood pressure will be better! I want to enjoy my Corbin and Grayson and not have a huge persistent headache!

Corbin loves his "baby" as he calls Grayson. He worries about where "baby" is if he is in the pack in play or something. He has been a huge help and get me things if I need something while I am nursing Grayson.

We are really enjoying this time right now with our family!

Hanging out with Mommy in the hospital for my first Thanksgiving!

Little did I know that when I wrote my last post, Jason and I would be meeting our son for the first time in a few hours. After my doctors appointment on Tuesday, Jason and I went home to our house so Jason could work on some work stuff from home. My mom watched Corbin for us so that I could really rest at home and I took a nap for a few hours. When I woke up we headed to my Mom's house at 3:00. We were hanging out at my Mom's house and I was laying on the couch and playing with Corbin.

I started getting a headache and asked Jason to go get me some Tylenol. My mom and sister, Carrie, said it probably wouldn't hurt to take my blood pressure because a headache is a sign of high blood pressure. My mom has high blood pressure and is on medication so she has a blood pressure machine at home so I took my blood pressure. Oh goodness what a shock it was to see that number pop up on the screen...177/111! My sister Carrie was standing behind me watching the results and yelled at me to GO LAY DOWN IMMEDIATELY! I started crying and freaking out and Jason quickly called the doctor on call. The doctor said to get to the hospital immediately! When we got there at 6:00 I was told to change into a gown and they hooked me up to the fetal monitor, contraction monitor and blood pressure. The nurse checked my cervix and said I was about 2-3 centimeters dilated. Dr. Kuhlmann was actually at the hospital here and came and checked me. He said they would watch my blood pressure and also see if my labor was progressing and to see if I was in active labor. Well an hour later my blood pressure was better but I was actually 3-4 centimeters dilated and was having contractions about every three to four minutes that I didn't really feel (I felt slight back lower back pain and some stomach tightening but thats about it)! Dr. Kuhlmann said "Well, I think its time to have a baby!"

I was super nervous about having a repeat c-section. Everything went well, but I was shaking so bad because of nerves/adrenaline. Before the surgery the anesthesiologist gave me a spinal and I was kind of freaking out because I could feel them scrubbing my tummy with the iodine to sterilize it etc and I kept asking them "UMM Should I feel this?!?! " Before with Corbin I had already had the epidural so I was already numb and I was scared I was going to be able to feel them start the c-section. The anesthesiologist reassured me that they used these HUGE tweezery things and pinch you VERY hard and if you feel it and say "ouch" then there is a big problem and they will adjust the medications. He said if they did it to a person who wasn't numb they would jump a million miles off the table! I didn't feel anything thank goodness! This time around with the c-section I could actually feel the pressure etc when they were getting Grayson out. (with Corbin they ended up giving me more medication because the numbness of the epidural had worn off slightly so I was OUT OF IT and didn't feel much!) When they pushed on my abdomen to get him out, WOW it was hard to breathe! I was also awake this time while they stitched me back up which was kind of weird. I kept shaking so badly because of adrenaline and anesthesia. Last time as I mentioned before they gave me too much anesthesia and I was out of it and fell asleep when I had Corbin, so it was weird to be awake.

Grayson James Ziaja was born November 24 at 9:44 pm and was 6 lbs 15 oz and 18 3/4 inches long. He had some fluid in his lungs and he had to be monitored for a while and I really didn't get to see him until 1:00 a.m and that was to nurse him and then he had to go back to the nursery to be monitored. Grayson shares his birthday with his uncle Justin and aunt Tori. Apparently our children also like to be born around family members birthdays! Corbin was born the day before my Dad's birthday and today is my Mom's birthday! Happy Birthday Mom!

Corbin has come by twice to see Grayson and his Mommy and Daddy. He has adjusted a ton better than I would have thought! He keeps saying "baby!" and he came and sat next to us. He also gave Grayson a kiss and patted his head today and said "Bye Brother!" OH man Jason and I got teary eyed when he said that! We get to leave the hospital tomorrow morning and can't wait to be home with our family!

Dr. appoinments and sleeping habits

Yesterday Jason came with me to my doctors appointment because we were getting an ultrasound to see how Grayson is doing. Well we get there and the nurse takes my blood pressure and was like "Do you have a headache?" I said "No, why?" She said "Well your blood pressure is 150/90, the highest its ever been this pregnancy." So then we go into the exam room and I am expecting to get checked to see if I am dilated and effaced at all. Two weeks ago at 35 weeks they did my group B strep test and checked me I didn't have any progress at all. Well Dr. Kuhlmann came in and listened to Grayson and he sounded great and just asked if I had been having any contractions and I said NOPE! So he didn't check me and told us to come to the ultrasound room. Grayson looked great on the ultrasound. He is estimated to be about almost 7 lbs and it was confirmed again that Grayson is definilty a boy! Jason was like "Oh theres his gibblets!" I was told to go home and LAY DOWN yesterday and really try to REALLY rest the remainder of this pregnancy. Dr. Kuhlmann told us we had to come back today and do a non-stress test and we have to go Friday to Labor and delivery at St. David's for a non-stress test as well because the doctors office is closed. Then if everything looks good then I will go back Monday. If something were to take a turn for the worse then Dr. Kuhlmann would come and deliver Grayson probably Friday. If not, then he is going to try and get us to 39 weeks and hopefully, Grayson won't have any lung/breathing problems.

The non-stress test today went great and my blood pressure was better 130/90. Jason came as well because Jason asked yesterday if I should be driving and Dr. K said I could only drive short distances so Jason drove me. Dr. Kuhlmann told us that Grayson should be in the text books he was moving so much during the test! Jason and I were just watching my stomach and he would jab out his butt or arm! I am a little nervous about this kid! Corbin was soo mellow inutero and he still is! I think we may have a high maintenance kid on our hands!

My family has been amazing through all this. My sister Carrie and my mom have been more than generous and have watched Corbin for me the past two days. He loves going to Mimi's now because every time he comes over she gives him a matchbox car and he is obsessed with them!

I am starting to wonder how Corbin is going to be with a sibling. I was holding my niece, Morgan, who is 8 months younger than Corbin and he did NOT like it one bit. I know having a sibling will be great for Corbin but I think there is going to be a LOT of jealousy at the beginning. He kept running up to me if I was paying attention to Morgan and saying "Mommy" and wrapping his arms around my legs.

I am trying to toughen up on Corbin's sleeping habits. I have been really bad about going in there and sleeping with him. We blew up an air mattress in Corbin's room a few weeks ago and I have been going in there to sleep with him in the middle of the night. I am starting to feel slightly guilty about having another baby and have been trying to soak up as much "Corbin time" as possible. After talking to my mom yesterday she was like "He should be able to self soothe himself back to sleep and he is too old to not be able to get himself to go back to sleep himself!" So I am happy to say that I did NOT go in there last night at all, yes he slept on the floor in front of his door ALL night long and that KILLED ME, but the good news is he woke up in a great mood this morning!
