Getting settled

We moved in on Saturday! We had a nasty visitor in our storage unit! A live RAT! (Jason has the pictures to prove it!!) Thankfully, it only ruined one $8 table from Ikea! We can live with that!

Our sweet boys didn't get to see our house until Sunday night at 6 pm! They stayed all weekend at my in laws house so we could try and get settled! I have to say that the boys have adjusted well so far. Corbin's teacher did tell me that he was really mellow yesterday and fell right asleep at naptime! We don't like our 5:45 wakeup time yet! Thankfully it only took me 35 minutes to get to work as I thought it may take 50 or so minutes with traffic.

We took the front rail off Grayson's bed and he is now sleeping in it toddler bed style (he also has to sleep with a 'cycle" (motorcycle, I don't know why but our boys especially Grayson is obsessed with "cycles" and when we spot one on the road he screams "cycle!") He hasn't figured out how to get out yet! I am hoping that day never comes but I bet it will! Corbin is LOVING his Star Wars comforter!

Overall we are super happy with our house and I get excited to go home every evening! Even with the mass choas and mess that is our house right now! The boxes will get all unpacked eventually!

It's ours!

Tuesday we closed on our house! It amazingly took only 45 minutes to close! On our first house it took a few hours! We were shocked! Jason and I went to celebrate with a drink and yummy dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Z'tejas! The boys had a great time with Mimi and got to have pizza and Popsicles! When we told Corbin we had signed the papers and the house was ours he told my mom "we won't see you anymore!" Haha I told him of course he would!

We are moving on Saturday. Although Jason took today and tomorrow off so he could move things from our smaller storage unit and go set up the mail and stuff like that. Love him! We will not have internet for a week! It should be good for us! We can get a lot of things unpacked, hopefully instead of being distracted by the internet! Today was my first day with all my students (I only had 4-6 kids the past few days for a half day and tomorrow is their first official day ALL day.) I have 16 and maybe more coming! We have big classes this year! I have been so exhausted! I was teasing Jason that this feels like the first few months of pregnancy exhaustion! (I am not preggers!) I forgot how tiring the first few weeks are!

done with the drama?

Well yesterday after so much drama the past few weeks the people signed the papers. We are now closing the 23rd. Hopefully this is a done deal and they won't come back and try and screw us over again!

In happier news the boys and I had a GREAT time at the jumpy gym! I don't think our boys are afraid of heights like daddy is because they both climed up and went down a 20 ft slide. Grayson even went down by himself after he went with me a few times! Yay maybe my sons will share my love of roller coasters! I was sad to learn that the love of my life doesn't share this passion! :(

Grayson has been very clingy to me when I've dropped him off at school! When I try to put him down he clings to me like a monkey and won't let go! On Thursday we were trying to walk into his room and he grabbed the door jam and held onto it for dear life! I had to pry his little fingers off! He did NOT want to go to school! :) It was super funny!

Corbin has had a fabulous few days at school! He has had a great time getting to know his new teacher and play with his friends that he has missed all summer! He even made a cool robot that I got to take a picture of!

BTW thanks Mama Pea for two more amazing recipes! I made blackberry cinnamon rolls (Corbin didn't want to eat these, but Grayson had three helpings this morning!) and chocolate banana millet muffins (Corby opted for one of these muffins for breakfast this morning) which the boys loved!

Its Friday, please save the drama!

Well there is more drama on this house! Yesterday Jason called me at work and the sellers and their Realtor are trying to prove that we weren't pre-approved for the original offer. They have no grounds for this! Our lender and their lawyer said that we are totally on the right side of the law and these people cannot prove this and we were pre-approved! They also came back and said they want us to pay $5000 over the appraisal again. We are trying to work with them but if they get to be pains and the asses again we are walking away, FOR GOOD! These sellers are relentless and NEVER going to sell their house if they are so annoying! I have never heard of sellers being THIS awful and picky over a few thousand dollars, of course we want the best deal and a fair one at that! This is supposed to be a buyers market! (Wouldn't you know this is the only house we have remotely liked in our whole search? Hey we are totally picky and don't want a fixer upper with two small children!)

Anyways, enough drama, its FRIDAY! I am in my classroom, which is all set up now thanks to my co-worker helping me move all my furniture! Now to tackle those horrendous closets!

The boys were so cute this morning! Grayson woke up and wanted to watch Star Wars. Then both the boys wore Star Wars shirts today and tennis shoes. Grayson wanted to go show daddy his tennis shoes but he had already left and settled on showing Mimi! While we were back there he saw football, which he called basketball, on the news, and had to crawl right in her bed to watch! He even gave Jason and I high fives and then kept saying "High five" because we were so proud he sat down in his chair. (He loves to stand up on the kitchen chairs when watching a show, much to mommy and daddy's dismay. We are terrified he's going to fall, which he already has several times!)

I told Corbin that if he is good today at school, I am taking them to the Jumpy Gym by my school after work. I thought it would be a nice treat since we have been back at work/preschool. I told him he needed to be good and have his listening ears on. To which he replied "Mommy, my listening ears are already on!" Hillarious!

We are going to have a busy weekend because Daddy has a Karate tournament tomorrow. We are going to make him a special pie for dessert! :) I have a strong feeling our boys are going to be air punching and karate chopping a lot more than usual this weekend!

I just remembered too that our baby Corbin is 3 and a half today!!!! Yay! Wow I cannot believe we are halfway to having a 4 year old!

YES!

Well yesterday Jason called and said the sellers broker was trying to fight for our earnest money. They were not entitled to it since we terminated the contract on time. So we finally told them a price we felt comfortable with take it or leave it. The sellers had already had a house they were going to rent so they were kind of stuck. Jason told me this morning that they accept the price we had come up with and felt comfortable with.

We are moving! Fingers crossed all goes well! :) We close on the 22nd! Yes, you Austin teachers know thats the first day of school! EEK! Luckily as a pre-k teacher the kids only come for half day the first 4 days of school.

The boys and I started back at work/preschool, (as Corbin calls it) today. I had to come in and register pre-k students and am going to work on my classroom as well the next two days. Corbin was so excited to be in the Busy Bee's classroom and he is thrilled because he is potty trained. He feels like a big boy now! :) Grayson was a little upset, he is in the same room as last year, and kept looking for "Michael." I miss our boys a lot and have to stay until 6 tonight because its pre-k late registration night. My mom just called me because she picked them up for me and said the boys had a great day! What a relief!

Corbin and I made homemade soft pretzels last night that were devoured in less than an hour! Everyone in my family loved them! I also made an amazing quesadilla, (summer succotash quesadillas with Mmmm sauce, it was soo Mmmm!) from the Peas and Thank you blog. I also bought her new cookbook recently and that's where I got the pretzel recipe a few other recipes we have enjoyed lately! :)

Jason and I are still in shock we aren't moving in a few weeks. The people were supposed to move out in a week and a half! They are CRAZY for not relenting on the house price. No lender is going to give a mortgage for $10,000 or more over appraisal value its way too risky!

We signed the papers to terminate the contract and get our earnest money back. Thank goodness our relator figured out that yesterday, not today, was the last day we could get out of the contract. Thank goodness we figured this all out in time.

My mom offered to watch Grayson last night so Jason and I could go on a date. Gray had a great time going to church with my parents and was dancing and tried to sing all the songs! :) (random: He is starting to love Star Wars too and if he sees a picture of Star Wars etc he screams "star wars" in this really low kinda scary voice!) Jason and I went to my favorite restaurant in the Domain: North! It was yummy as usual and we even got a dessert because we just needed it! :) It was great to spend time with Jason and just discuss what we want to do next. We came home for a bit and then went to see Captian America with my brothers, Brenton and Sutton. Good movie by the way! It was nice to spend time with them too, because they are both going back to school soon.
(Hehe Gray just brought me Tuck the Turtle from the Wonder Pets and said Ming Ming (Ming Ming is the duck.) He can sing the Wonder Pets song! He was just singing it! Love it! :) SO cute!

I guess this all is a blessing in disguise. What if we hadn't of found this out until today? We would have lost a great deal of money and had to proceed! I also was getting highly stressed about having to go back to work and moving all at the same time. So now once we do move soon I will be a LOT more settled in work and my new class and can move with out as much stress.

Can I tell you how much I have loved just spending one on one time with Grayson this weekend?! When we got home from the movie I went to check on him and he had a dirty diaper so after I changed him he got to sleep in bed with us for a while! We haven't done that with him since he slept in his bed at 6 months old! I loved snuggling our baby! :) He also slept until 8 am today which my boys don't do! His internal clock wakes him up at 6:30 and he wakes up his brother. Yesterday morning he got in bed with us and Jason's did something funny and Grayson hysterically laughed for a few minutes and we loved it!

Well this morning we found out what we already knew. The sellers wouldn't budge the $10, 000. They offered to come down $3,000 but that's it. So we are walking away. Then we come to find out someone screwed up along the way and the appraisal was done really late and our loan wasn't sent to underwriters which means we may be out our earnest money.We better get this money back, we aren't the ones who messed up! It was a substantial amount of money!

We are waiting to hear if we can get our earnest money back. We are more than a little upset. This house was priced $24,000 above the appraisal value to begin with, we got them to knock off $14,000 now they won't budge. We have been told these sellers are motivated to sell but to whom? No one in their right mind is going to buy a house $10,000 over the appraisal value not in this market, unless its a cash offer.

I think we have decided we are going to continue saving money, and just save a ton at this point in time. We are going to wait a month or two to probably look at houses again. We can't go through this heartache again. We were supposed to close next Friday! Thank goodness we had 20 days from the contract signing to get out. The 20 days ends tomorrow. Thank goodness we can get out still!

It was just too good to be true. It was ten minutes from Jason's moms house, great neighborhood, and great schools. We had already told the boys we were moving soon, and had planned their rooms and everything.

I am off to take a nap, which is how I deal when I am highly stressed. Thank goodness Corbin is at my Mom-in-laws lake house this weekend! Jason and I can just try to relax and destress.

Annoying kids shows

Our boys are now obessed with Deigo. You know Dora's cousin from Nickelodeon who is only just slightly annoying! The songs get stuck in your head like you wouldn't believe! Jason and I both have had these songs in our head!

The only cute thing is that Grayson screams "YEGO" when I put it on Netflix and starts spinning around and dancing to the theme song! Corbin can answer most of the questions in the review session from the show, which impressed Daddy and I! Yes, Yes I know from being a teacher watching t.v., or "t.b." as Grayson calls it, is not a substitute for reading a good book to introduce vocabulary and concepts.

I can't tell you how many times we had to watch "Yego" the past few days! Corbin has been waking up in the middle of the night the past few nights, even with Melatonin (something to talk to the doctor about when we go in September) and he had a huge tantrum because he couldn't watch Deigo yesterday morning! Hello Crabby McCrabberson!

Yes these shows are totally annoying! I am now "THAT" mom, the mom that said I wouldn't let my kids watch certain shows (Deigo and Dora to name an annoying few), and wouldn't let them wear Crocs, (it's been our summer staple shoe) Oh well! These things make my children happy and get me through the day! :)

Apprasial Value

Last night Jason told me some news that may be detrimental to buying this house. He said the appraisal came back $10,000 less than what final offer price was. If the sellers do not lower their price to the appraisal value we will have to walk away. We are not going into a house where we are already not making any money. This all happens a week before we are supposed to close! Are you kidding me?! We are STILL waiting to hear from our Realtor.

This just sucks! Seriously, we were going to look at paint this weekend. We've already set a moving date for the 27th. We have started to envision ourselves in this house! I guess its all not final until we sign the papers at closing! UGH! We thought we were done looking at houses! I am terrified we are going to have to start looking at houses all over again!

Anyone who really knows me, knows that I am definitely a glass half empty kinda girl. So of course I am expecting the worst! We looked at houses online again last night in case this all falls through and its the same stuff we already have seen for the past few months.

Please let this all work out!

Michael

Grayson is a talker! He can say a bunch of our family members names. He can say Justin, Tori, Niki, etc but he will not say Corbin. He can even name all my parents dogs names and my brother's dog Mischa, he calls her Beesha. However he refuses to call Corbin, Corbin. We, meaning me, always ask Grayson"Where's Corbin or Where is Corbin Michael?" He always responds "I donno!" So I noticed yesterday when we went to the playground for a picnic lunch with Daddy he was saying "Michael" while Corbin was playing.

Yes, Grayson now calls his brother "Michael!" All I can say that at least it is part of Corbin's name and that its not something like Ohguwin, the name Corbin used to call himself! While we were at a store today and Corbin was looking at a book Grayson said "Where Michael?"
