Oh a boy and his dog! Corbin has really been in love with our dog, Kylie, lately. When I am holding Corbin, Kylie follows us everywhere. This makes Corbin laugh hysterically. The first thing Corbin does when he wakes up is crawl to our baby safe rail on our bed and look for Kylie and laugh. Well yesterday morning while getting ready for work and school, Kylie was waiting outside our bathroom door and I pointed and said "Dog" several times. Corbin then imitated me and pointed to Kylie and said "Doah". Last night just to be sure Jason and I did it again and of course Corbin would point and say 'Doah" every time. I had to call my parents and they got to hear Corbin on speaker phone! They were so excited for their grandson! :) He wouldn't do it for Aunt Carrie! I think he was "dogged" out by that time! Oh well Aunt Carrie can hear him when she comes for spring break with the cutest nieces ever! :)

Corbin also has been imitating Jason and I a lot! One year olds are so much fun; all the things they are learning! Corbin can say "WOW." When he is hungry or Jason and I are eating something he wants he says "MMMmmm." Its so cute!

She is such a patient and loving doggie! We couldn't have asked for a better dog who is so patient with our little boy! (Even though she turned three yesturday and still has some puppy in her... we found she chewed two legs of our coffee table and she LOVES chewing Corbin's toys so we cannot leave ANY of them out at all when we are gone!)

Corbin has been very busy lately exploring. He figured out how to climb into this rocking chair and learned how to give his Mom and Dad heart attacks; by standing on the rocking chair. We have been telling him the word "No" a lot lately. A few of his favorites lately: when he tries to pull the cord out of my computer and put it in his mouth. His new favorite is to feed Kylie, our dog, all his meal. When Jason and I tell him "NO" he starts laughing hysterically! He giggles and laughs which makes it hard for Jason and I to keep a straight face (we have to turn away). He also has been biting me a lot lately. I think he is getting some new teeth.

It certainly is hard to say "NO" to that sweet face.

Corbin's First Birthday Party

UPDATE:
I forgot to mention in this post earlier, but Friday night I realized that Corbin is getting two of his first year molars. He has hardly been fussy but I realized that was the reason he was forever having his fingers in his mouth.

We've had an interesting weekend. Corbin had his first birthday party. Jason took off Friday to clean our house but Corbin was still not feeling 100% so Jason had to take care of our sick baby instead of clean the house. My parents were nice enough to watch Corbin Saturday morning so Jason and I could clean our house.

Corbin's first birthday party was full of excitement! Corbin was surrounded by the people who love him! He is so fortunate to have such a wonderful family and friends. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us.

This morning Corbin woke up with a rash covering his whole body. I freaked out and called my Dad, who is a doctor. We took him to see the doctor this morning and he has Roseola, a virus common in children and the rash develops at the very tail end of the virus. It also turns out he had a double ear infection. So he is on medication to clear that up. We've also had to reschedule our first year well check until our little guy gets better.

Thank you Dad and Sarah for taking pictures for us. Wouldn't you know that the night before the party my memory card finally felt that 2035 pictures were more than it could handle. Jason couldn't find the plug for the external hard drive to backup our pictures in time. Sarah, I borrowed some of the birthday pictures from your blog! My Dad only sent me a few from yesterday.

He will probably be upset with me for posting this picture later in life. Oh well! It was part of the birthday party experiance. This was Corbin's first time to take a bath in the kitchen sink.

Dear Corbin,

Happy First Birthday! What a wonderful first year this has been with you in our lives. I am sitting here tearing up, totally amazed by the joy you have bestowed upon your Dad and I. I love how everyday no matter what kind of day we have had you never fail to make us smile. I love being able to rush to your school and pick you up, giddy to see you because I've been away from you for most of the day. I love how your face lights up when your Dad and I walk through the door.

You mean the world to us Corbin Michael! We are so blessed. We love you with all our hearts.

You will be missed Grandpa

Today is a sad day. My grandfather passed away this morning. He had been in the hospital for a few weeks and then had gone to a hospice a little over a week ago as there was nothing more the doctors could do. The medicines for his heart were really taking a toll on him. I guess after talking to my mom today he was able to go home a few days ago.

My whole family is going to the funeral, minus Sutton (who is in military school) and I. I am torn because I really want to be able to go and support my family, especially my mom at this hard time however I don't think its possible. My mom told me she understood that I probably couldn't go because Corbin's birthday is on Thursday which is the day of the funeral.

Grandpa, you will be missed. May you rest in peace.

Recently Corbin has been really into Jason! Its so cute to see Corbin get excited to see Daddy when he gets home from work or hear him say "Dada." I love seeing him share a special bond with his Daddy! Jason cannot wait to get Corbin a Brio train set and play with Corbin when he is older, or play soccer or video games with him. There are some things as a woman I will never understand like the video game obsessions that men have. But I love that Jason is such an involved father and cannot wait to do all these things with our son!

New views on life

Look at me in my big boy car seat! "Wow, so that's what Mom and Dad do while I am back here: they drive."

Yesterday we decided to turn Corbin's car seat around. He turns one on Thursday and his poor little feet kept getting smashed on the back seat of the car.
Corbin loves his new view on the car. Last night as Jason was driving us to dinner, Jason would turn around and look at Corbin and he thought it was hilarious to be able to see Daddy.

Our little man is trying his best to start walking. Friday night while playing on the floor he would be in a seated position then all of the sudden would pull himself up to a straddle. It was hilarious to watch! Corbin tried to do this like 10 times.

"...and then AHH HAA! I am almost there! How do I pull up my top half?"

Corbin has learned how to take his arms out of his shirt!
