My family and I originally were going to Wichita, Kansas to celebrate my grandfather's 80th birthday and have a party for him. Well about a week ago my Mom got a call from her father saying he was in the hospital.
My mom decided to fly up to Dallas on Wednesday and then drive the five hours with her brother to Wichita on Thursday to see her father.

Corbin was so awesome during the eight hour car ride!
Well, as my family was driving to Wichita on Thursday my dad, who is a doctor, called my grandpa's doctor. (who my dad knew from medical school). The prognosis was not good at all. My grandpa's heart was functioning 10-20 percent than that of a normal person and his kidneys and liver were not working right and he had Staph pneumonia. He also did not have any sort of appetite. He also said to one of his sons that he thought he would never leave the hospital alive. We were preparing for the worse. When I walked into the hospital room that day, my grandpa looked as white as a sheet. It was heartbreaking to see him like that. Of course I was nervous and never know what to say in those situations and I say "how are you doing?" I immediately wanted to kick myself. DUH, you don't say that to someone who is sick!

In the hospital waiting room with Boompa. No kids under 10 allowed in the hospital rooms.
When we went to visit my grandpa on Friday he was out of bed and sitting up eating! He had the color back in his face and he looked a lot better! He completely changed overnight. My mom later said she truly believed that since we all came and saw him and showed that we love and support him, he got better. I truly believe that as well. He is now supposed to hopefully be able to come home in the middle of this week.

My grandpa's cake!

I had my cousin Eric take a pictures of all my siblings. They came out kinda blurry but oh well.

Second attempt.

Reese loved playing with Corbin as he CRAWLED on the floor!
Saturday we had the 80th birthday celebration for my grandpa, who was not able to attend, sadly. My sister Merritt made a slide show of his life, which was beautiful, and we videotaped the party and showed them to him later. It was wonderful because we saw a lot of our relatives that we had not seen for many years. My Dad and I had not been back to Wichita since his mom passed away in 1996.
We did some nostalgic activities that both of my parents really enjoyed. We went to a hamburger place, Nuway, where my dad, mom and her brothers grew up on. We also went to the house my mom and her three brothers grew up in. My uncle Jon started walking around the house and checked out the backyard... we were surprised they didn't call the cops! Well the lady who owns the house came out and even let my mom and brothers and a bunch of other family come in and see the house. My mom said that it has barely changed at all in 50 years. The lady even told my mom that some of the same neighbors were still living in their homes and so my mom and her brothers excited, like little children, ran to go talk to them.

The house my Mom grew up in!

At Nuway, My dad loved it!
We are very happy to be home. We missed Daddy very much! Whenever I called Jason I had Corbin "talk" to him. Every time Jason talked Corbin got a HUGE smile on his face, so I know he really missed Daddy! Corbin did really well on the trip. He even stayed up until 11 or so a few nights and then woke up at his usual 7:30 and was not cranky at all.
Even though his routine was thrown off you wouldn't know it. I hope this is an indication that daycare will go well when he starts a week from today. :( I start back at work on the 18th. I am nervous that he will not sleep there at all and once he comes home all he will want to do is sleep. It will be an adjustment for all of us.
