snow day!

We had a snow day! Jason and I were so excited to take the boys out and see snow, however little there was!! We only got one picture on our regular camera before the battery died! I got a few super cute ones and some videos on our phones. Grayson LOVED he snow and kept trying to bolt down the street! We brought some cars, and monster trucks outside and the boys went to town! Jason made a Teeny tiny snow man which Grayson promptly destroyed once I had taken a picture!
I am so happy we all got bundled up at 8:00 because by the early afternoon the snow had almost all melted!

Our beautiful kitchen!!!

We finally bit the bullet and updated our kitchen with granite and a new backsplash, sink, and faucet! Jason and I love it! Only problem is we are going to put our house on the market probably in March so we don't have much time to enjoy it! We are so happy its finally done! We had a few bumps along the way and the people that installed the counters broke the drainage pipe and claimed they didn't know. But it was fixed for free and everything looks great! Jason did an awesome job putting the sink and new garbage disposal in.

Have you met my husband: the artist?!

Jason drew this picture of an anime style Corbin! I love it! It is so cute! :) My hubs is super, incredibly talented!

This is what he wrote under the picture!

"My older son LOVES hot chocolate. Or as he prefers to take it - "cold, hot chocolate" (basically just chocolate milk). He turns 3 in a couple weeks, and I absolutely love this age. Seeing his face light up when he receives a mug of 'hot chocolate' is definitely priceless. :)

Also, he likes to wear his winter hats pushed down onto his ears to where they stick out. :P It looks silly, but in an incredibly cute way! :D"

It especially makes me happy because I am home with two sick boys right now! Corbin woke up yesterday with pink eye. I took half a day off yesterday and decided to take Grayson too! His eyes had been leaking green stuff which prompted Jason and I to think he had clogged tear ducts for about a week and a half. I am so glad I took him too! He had a REALLY bad double ear infection. Dr. Owens said that as nasty as it sounds his ear infection was leaking into his eyes. OMG totally grossed me out! His eyes are SOO much better even with only two doses of ogmentin.

E F G

The other day while driving Jason and I heard Grayson say "E F G!" The alphabet song is now our favorite song to sing and when Corbin and I are done singing it Grayson busts out with "E F G!" Today he said "all gone" very cleary too! I love this stage!

Corbin had a major regression sleeping one night and woke up a ton. It was not fun for us at all! I also started a new thing with Corbin that I don't come into his room without him being in his bed. So far its working pretty well!

Corbin has been super cute lately and has started saying "You pretty Mommy!" Melts my heart!

lately

Grayson is saying words all the time! He is learning new words everyday! The other day I let Kylie out and said "good girl" when she went to the bathroom and I hear Grayson say "Good girl!" He says nigh-nigh! When its time to go to bed! Last night when we were coming home from my inlaws, Grayson starts saying "yummy" in the car! I thought that was funny because he overate and ended up getting sick all over himself and me while we were there! Jason and I were gone part of the time running errands and getting a new kitchen faucet and so I don't know how much he had eaten while we were gone!:(

We had family watch the boys this weekend so we could go look at a granite slab! We are hoping to put the house back on the market on March 1st. We have a lot of cleaning once again to do. We are going to store a lot of out stuff at our parents houses. We are putting in granite with the hopes that our house will sell much quicker. I think it will because the countertop was ruined by our coffee maker pulling up the laminate counter and that might deter people if its broken. We are getting a new undermount sink and backsplash too for a really good deal! Its going to be ready sometime this week or next! So in the next few weeks we are going to clean our house like mad!

Off to make cookies with Corbin on our day off from school/work!

Sleep and stress

On Wednesday our family went to a doctors appointment for Corbin concerning his awful sleep habits. He was getting in trouble at school last week a few days and had cried himself to sleep for an HOUR and didn't fall asleep until 9 pm! I was super concerned and after talking to my mom she agreed an appointment would make me feel better!

Basically walking away from the appointment she told use we (read as ME, Jason is much better at being consistent at bedtime) had to be consistent and read a book or two, water, snuggles, have Kylie sleep with him, and just give him a kiss and then leave. My problem is I HATE hearing him cry that long and I would go back in. So I made a conscious decision that this is his life and we need to set a good precedence for sleep now until he gets older and it gets worse! So we have bumped his bedtime back 30 minutes and the past three days I have done just that books, water, snuggles, and goodnights and left!

I am super happy to report that he has only cried a total of 5 to ten minutes! This is such a relief to Jason and I! Corbin is getting the sleep he needs and we are much happier! He also has woken up at 3:30 the past two nights and we made sure not to put him in our bed. He wanted his noise machine back on and more water and then went back to sleep!

I also think I am less stressed because I went to my annual doctors appointment Monday and Dr. Kuhlmann told me that my blood pressure was high again! I told him I had not been able to sleep and woke up for an hour and half the other day and did chores and such in the middle of the night. I asked him if getting back on anti-anxiety meds would help! He said yes and prescribed me meds. This is my fourth day and I feel such a sense of calm. I guess it helps too that my totally difficult student that I had to clear my class for almost daily and contain moved over Christmas break.

signing times

The boys have really started to love a show that I bought while teaching PPCD called Signing Times. Its a 30 minute show that introduces ASL to young children and can reduce tantrums etc for hearing children and ones with autism, etc. I love it because it is educational and Corbin and Grayson are learning something! The boys LOVE it! I have an iphone app that plays a few music videos and they LOVE to watch it. I bought two of the dvds and they can't get enough! Last night we went out to dinner with my parents and we met Jason there after work so I was taking the boys by myself and Grayson was a wreck! He didn't want to be stuffed in his big coat in the carseat and having his monkey hat on! As soon as I hooked up my iphone to the car adapter and switched the intro song on he was happy!

The other day we discovered that Grayson sings the intro song. He starts saying "Weeah!" The song says "Its signing time with Alex and Leah!" He says "Weeah" all the time! Its so cute!
Grayson signs "more" for "eat" and "milk"! We are working on the real signs for each of those things! Although he can say "eat" so even though its not accurate thats ok!

My parents are planning on buying some of the DVDs for Corbin's birthday!
